Privacy Policy
For the mobile game Onyx Flow · Last updated: 8 September 2026
The short version: we don't run a server and we never see your data. There is no account and no sign-up, and everything the game saves — your best score, streak, missions, achievements and settings — is written to your own device and stays there. The game is free because it shows ads through Google AdMob, and AdMob does collect information about your device in order to show and measure those ads. Section 4 explains exactly what, and how to limit it.
1. Who this policy is from
This policy explains how the Android game Onyx Flow ("the game", "we") handles information. The game is developed and published by Portal Design Studio. If anything here is unclear, contact portaldesignstudios@gmail.com.
This policy covers the game itself and this website. It does not cover Google Play, which has its own privacy policy and handles the distribution of the app.
2. What we collect ourselves
Nothing. Onyx Flow does not ask for, collect or transmit to us:
- names, email addresses, phone numbers or postal addresses;
- accounts, logins or social network profiles;
- contacts, photos, files, microphone or camera input;
- precise location;
- usage analytics, event telemetry or crash reports.
There is no registration step, no player profile and no server of ours that stores anything about you, because we do not operate a server at all. The only data leaving your device is the ad traffic described in section 4, which goes to Google, not to us.
3. What the game stores on your device
To let you pick a run back up and to keep your progress, the game writes a small save file into its own private storage area on your phone. That file contains only game state:
- your best score and lifetime play statistics;
- your daily streak, grace tokens and daily-challenge status;
- today's missions and their progress;
- unlocked achievements;
- your settings (sound, haptics, reduced motion, piece skin);
- the board of an unfinished run, so it can be resumed.
This data stays on your device. It is not uploaded to any service we operate, it is not readable by other apps, and we have no way to access it. Deleting the app's data or uninstalling the game removes it permanently.
4. Advertising
Onyx Flow is free and is funded by advertising. Ads are served by Google AdMob, a Google service. To select, deliver and measure those ads, Google may collect and process:
- your advertising ID (the resettable Android Advertising ID);
- your IP address, and coarse location derived from it;
- device and app information — device model, operating system version, language, screen size, network type, and the app the ad was shown in;
- ad interaction data — whether an ad was shown, viewed or clicked.
We never receive any of this in a form that identifies you; what reaches us is aggregate revenue and performance reporting. Google's own documents describe this processing in detail: Google Privacy Policy, How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services, and the AdMob help centre.
Consent in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the game asks for your choice about personalised advertising the first time you play, through Google's consent management platform. You can accept personalised ads, or refuse them and see non-personalised ads instead — the game plays identically either way. You can change or withdraw that choice at any time from the game's Settings screen.
Limiting ad tracking yourself
Independently of anything in the game, Android lets you reset or delete your advertising ID at any time under Settings → Privacy → Ads (the exact path varies by manufacturer). Deleting it stops apps from receiving an advertising identifier at all. You can also opt out of personalised Google advertising at adssettings.google.com.
5. Network access
The game connects to the internet only to request ads. All gameplay is local: the board, the scoring, the Flow meter, your statistics and the daily challenge are computed on your device. The daily challenge is generated from the calendar date itself, which is why every player gets an identical daily board without anything being sent anywhere. If your device is offline the game remains fully playable; you simply see no ads.
6. Permissions
The game requests internet access, which it needs for the ads described above. It does not request access to your location, contacts, storage, camera or microphone. Vibration is used only for in-game haptic feedback and can be switched off in Settings.
7. Sharing your score
If you tap the share button after a run, Android's own share sheet opens with a short text containing your score. Nothing is sent until you choose an app and confirm, and the message goes directly from your device through the app you picked. We never see it, and no copy is kept by the game.
8. Third parties
Google, as our advertising provider, is the only third party that receives data from the game, and only for the purposes in section 4. We do not sell, rent or trade information about you with anyone, and we hold no database that would let us. The game bundles no analytics, attribution or social-network libraries.
The app is distributed through Google Play, and Google collects its own data as part of running the store and processing installs — see Google's privacy policy for that.
9. Children
Onyx Flow is a general-audience puzzle game. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the game, contact us and we will act on it — though in practice the game gives no way to enter any.
10. Your rights and choices
Data-protection laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export or delete the personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to disclose or erase on request. In practice your controls are:
- reset or delete your advertising ID in Android's settings, which resets ad profiling;
- clear the app's data, which erases everything the game stored and makes it ask for your advertising consent again the next time you open it;
- uninstall the game, which removes all of it;
- exercise your rights against Google directly for the ad data it processes, using the contacts in Google's privacy policy.
US state privacy laws
If you live in a US state with a comprehensive privacy law — California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah and others — you have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising.
We do not sell your personal information, and we hold none of it to sell. What those laws describe as “sharing” is the advertising ID and device information that Google AdMob receives in order to serve ads in the game.
You can opt out at any time by resetting or deleting your advertising ID in Android's settings, or by clearing the app's data. Exercising either right costs you nothing: the game plays exactly the same, and we will not treat you differently for it.
11. Security
The save file is stored in the app's private directory, which Android isolates from other applications. We transmit nothing to ourselves and store nothing about you, so there is no database of ours that could be breached. Ad traffic is handled by Google over encrypted connections.
12. Changes to this policy
If a future version of the game introduces anything else that handles data — in-app purchases, cloud saves, online leaderboards, analytics or crash reporting — this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the "last updated" date above will change. Material changes will also be noted in the app's store listing. Continuing to play after an update means you accept the revised policy.
